Effects of Simulated High Altitude on the Tissue Respiration of Various Organs

Abstract
The oxygen consumption rates of various organs in 17 male adult rats exposed to the transverse radial G produced by means of an animal centrifuge were measured using the Warburg¢¥s manometric method. The oxygen consumption rates of liver, kidney, muscle, brain and testicle were measured. The oxygen consumption rates decreased in all organs except the testicle as compared with the normal control. When the comparisons-of QO2 were made between survival and fatal group in tolerating the G-force, the fatal group showed a little decreased rate than the survival group.
